Zac + Rachel | An intimate, backyard Wisconsin wedding
Written by Amber - |
Elegant simplicity. That's how I would describe Zac and Rachel's intimate, backyard wedding in August. They decided together what they valued in the celebration of their marriage and followed through on those things thoughtfully and intentionally. Their ceremony and dinner celebration took place at the beautiful home of Rachel's parents in Hubertus, WI with 20 members of their immediate family, the Pastor and his wife, and Chad and myself. What a true honor to be included to capture this special occasion!
As you can guess, connections to their family history are important to this couple. As the Bride and Groom prepared for the wedding, Zac put on his grandfather's shoes in remembrance of his life and Rachel's grandmother strung pearls around Rachel's neck that had been given to her 68 years earlier on her own wedding day by her late husband, Floyd. Although Zac did not see Rachel in her wedding dress before the ceremony, I loved the unique, sweet moments in the house when they exchanged smiles getting Zac ready in his suit and tie.
After a very meaningful, God-centered marriage ceremony on the back patio (complete with a few joyful tears among the guests), families enjoyed making new memories together over appetizers and the home-brewed beer that Zac & Rachel had bottled for the day (a true Wisconsin couple!). The pig roast dinner was simply delicious, and the speeches and toasts delivered were genuinely heartfelt (especially the poetry written by Zac's grandfather!). Molly's Cupcakes out of Chicago were more than delectable—as well as sentimental, since Zac and Rachel had Molly's Cupcakes on their second date!
Anyone who knows Zac and/or Rachel knows that friendly competition and facts are super important to them. It didn't take us long to discover that they get that "passion" from their family members! Therefore, the most memorable part of the whole wedding day, in our opinion, was definitely the game show portion of the evening. Zac and Rachel had put together a "Wits & Wagers" style trivia game with questions that were relevant to them as a couple. They mixed four even teams of family members and intense competition ensued. It was mutually agreed upon that Rachel's grandmother was the MVP! Too funny!
In all seriousness though, we are incredibly excited for these two, as well as their families, as they live out this exciting new chapter of their lives.
I am SO excited to share these highlights from their wedding day...
